Manuel Quiros sits at(319th)in the Race to Dubai,but he came alive during the first round of the MADRID MASTERS with a spectecular round of 10 under par 62 to take a 2 shot lead over local favorite Sergio Garcia(12th)who had a good putting day for a 64.
Danien McGrane (49th)in the race to Dubai and Gary Murphy (145th) had good scores of -5 67 but find themselves 5 shots off the pace.
Darren Clarke(65th) was 5 under after 9,but had a poor back nine to finish on -3,69 and join Michael Hoey(82nd) and Peter Lawrie(47th).
Gareth Maybin(55th) is on -2 70,while Shane Lowry birdied the last for a -1 round of 71.
