German,Sophia Popov was the winner of the European Ladies Amateur Championship in the Czech Republic with a 4 round score of 8 under par 280.She fired rounds of 69,69,69 and 73 in difficult scoring conditions for a 3 shot winning margin from Line Vedel Hansen from Denmark and Manon Gidali from France.
15 year old Leona Maguire from Slieve Russell was the top Irish performer coming in with a 4 under par total of 284 for 5th place.Leona recovered from a poor 75 in the first round to hit scores of 67,71,71.
Twin sister Lisa got a better start with a 69,but fell back with scores of 75,73 and 74 to finish in a share of 21st on 2 over par 290.
144 Ladies took part with the top 60 after 3 rounds making the cut for the final round.Mary Dowling (New Ross)made the +6 cut mark by 1 shot after rounds of 73,73,75 but unfortunately took an 83 in the final round to finish down in joint 60th on +16.
Charlene Reid(Royal Portrush)81,77,74 and Victoria Bradshaw(Bangor)77,80,79 both missed out on the final round.
