Swedens Maria Hjorth and France's Julie Greciet lead the way after the first round of the AIB Ladies Open at Portmarnock Links. They shot -5 rounds of 67.
Unlike the mens Open the ladies enjoyed one of the warmest days of the year.Dubliner Martina Gillen is only two shots behind the leaders on 70-2.They were the only 2 Irish to break par.
The whole talk around Dublin is the 14 year old twins competing against seasoned Professionals.Leona had a 74 early in the day and was on hand to watch Lisa in the afternoon.Lisa looked like beating Leona until she dropped 5 shots and made 2 birdies over the last 7 holes. She signed for a 76+4.They had the biggest gallerys of the day and handled it like seasoned Professionals.Another great performance came from Kilkeel amateur Danielle Mc Veigh 74.
