Richard Kilpatrick who has had a miserable time this year on the Europro tour, made the long journey to Egypt to play in the Egyptian Open and got off to a great start when he returned a 2 under par 70 to sit in 16th place and 5 shots behind Carl Suneson who had a sparkling 65.
It wasn't such a great start for Gareth Shaw. Like Kilpatrick he has had a terrible year on the Challenge tour and things haven't improved as he opened his account with a 2 over par 74 and is down in 48th place,9 shots off the pace.
Ryder cup captain,Colm Montgomery is a welcome guest to this part of the world and he trilled the large crowd with a 3 under par 69.
