Local favorite Rhys Davies gave the home fans something to cheer about when he won the SWALEC WALES CHALLENGE event at the VALE HOTEL &SPA RESORT IN CARDIFF.
Davies had to win the hard way.He beat Englands James Morrision in a play off after they both finished on 2 under par for the tournament. They were happy to be in a play off as Swedens Andreas Hogberg took a bogey at the 16th & 18th to finish one behind on -1.Hogberg had a 68, the best score of the day despite his last 3 holes and they were the only 3 to finish under par over the very difficult Vale course.
Colm Moriarty had a closing 71 for a share of 8th place on +2.Gareth Shaw fell back with a 78 to finish on +8 and a share of 30th.Simon Thornton hit a 74 to finish on +11 and 42nd spot and Michael McGeady was well away in 64th place after a 78 and +15 for the tournament.
