Great start to 2011 for Graeme McDowell.

US Open Champion, Graeme McDowell made the long journey from Portrush to Hawaii for the season opening Hyundai, Tournament of Champions on the PGA Tour. After a long Christmas break Graeme could have been forgiven for not producing the kind of golf that he played in 2010, that won him his 1st major title and numerious awards.

He started slowly with a level par round of 71, then followed up with a pair of 68s. Starting the last round 5 shots behind, Graeme produced an amazing round with 11 birdies and 7 pars for a record equalling 62. His 23 under par left him 1 shot shy of a play - off between Jonathan Byrd and Robert Garrigus but in sole 3rd place.

The $412,000 he collected, lifted him into joint 4th place in the World rankings alongside Phil Mickleson.

Byrd went on to beat Garrigus at the 2nd extra hole after Garrigus missed from 3 feet.
