McGinley determined to make the Ryder Cup Team.

In the first event that gives points towards next years Ryder Cup team,Paul McGinley has played the best golf of the year to sit only 2 shots of the lead at the half way stage of the OMEGA EUROPEAN MASTERS at CRANS-SUR-SIERRA.
South African,Thomas Aiken shot the low round of the day with a 7 under par 64 to go with his opening 68 to take the lead on -10 132.He is closely followed by Bradley Dredge 68,65 and Miguel Angel Jimenez 65,68 133.
McGinley is in a group of 4 on -8 after he shot 66/68.He was impressive in the second round and even though he didn't get a lot of putts he managed 15 pars and 3 birdies.
Darren Clarke is also showing good form and is in 22nd position on -5 after rounds of 69/68.
Three Irish are locked in a group of 13 on -4.Rory McIlroy dropped 3 late shots to hit 67/71,Graeme McDowell 68/70 and Gareth Maybin 70/68 all all still within 6 shots of the leader.

For the 2nd week in a row Shane Lowry has missed the cut by one shot. The first round of 72 left him under pressure. He was -3 after the first nine holes of the second round and looked like making the cut,but a bogey at the par 3,16th left him one shot too many on -1 after a 69.
Gary Murphy fighting to save his card, looks like he will be going back to the qualifying school after missing out by 2 shots after scores of 70/72.
Michael Hoey is not playing well and has missed out on a cheque again after 71/74 left him on +3 and 5 shots too many.
