Simon Thornton from Royal County Down golf club is in good shape at the half way stage of the ITALIAN FEDERATION CUP in ITALY.He lies one shot behind the leader Edoardo Molinari after hitting rounds of 65 and 69.
Molinari is already the winner of the order of merit,but for Simon he could qualify for next weeks final event,the TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP which is also played in Italy if he finishes in the top 5.
He shares second place with Nicolas Colsaerts and Rhys Davies on 10 under par and only one shot behind Molinari.
Johnny Caldwell is also performing well with scores of 69/70 for a share of 14th place on -5.
Colm Moriarty 69/71 and Michael McGeady 71/69 share 18th place on -4.
