ANOTHER TITLE FOR THE GRANT GIRLS FROM LISBURN.

Weeks after 16 year old Paula Grant won the Ulster Ladies title at Clandeboye, sister Laura claimed her own title when she won the IRISH GIRLS CLOSE CHAMPIONSHIP at The Grange Golf Club in Dublin.

Amy Farrell(Moate)was the leading qualifier with rounds of 75/79 around the tree-lined Grange course. She went on to beat the holder,Emma O Driscoll(Ballybunion)by two holes in the semi-final.

Laura Grant looked to be in trouble in the other semi-final when she lost the first three holes to Sinead Sexton(Lahinch).Laura fought back bravely, picking up holes until she nosed in front playing the 18th but there was a setback as Sexton made a good par to send the game into extra time.It was only a temporary setback for Laura as she made a par at the 19th for a fine victory, while Sinead three putted for a bogey.

During the final,Laura got a good start, winning two holes early on against Amy Farrell. She turned for home two up,went three up with a win at the 13th,only to lose the 14th to a birdie from Amy.A par at the 16th was good enough to send another trophy back to the Grant household in Lisburn, with Laura crowned Irish Girls Close Champion.
