DANIEL GUANT WINS ON CHALLENGE TOUR.

Less than a month after losing the Northern Ireland Masters Europro tournament at Galgorm Castle in a play off to James Hepworth,Austrailian Daniel Guant won on the Challenge Tour.

An invite to The Stoke-By-Nayland Championship on the Challenge Tour was gratefully accepted by Guant as leader of the Europro order of merit,and he took full advantage.He opened with an 8 under par 64 to lead and after following rounds of 69 and 70 found himself 4 shots behind the new leader Danish man,Thorbjorn Olezen heading into the final round.

The 4 shot lead disappeared after Guant started with 3 birdies while Olezen fell back.The new challenge for Guant came from English Amateur,Tommy Fleetwood and Scottish player Craig Lee.Lee set the clubhouse target with a final round of 68 to finish on -16.Both Guant and Fleetwood were 17 under par and on the last green in regulation. While Guant two putted for a par, Fleetwood rushed his first putt 4 feet past and missed the return to hand Guant the trophy on -17.

Guant was guaranteed a Challenge Tour Card for 2011 as Europro order of merit leader but now he can play for the rest of this year and all of 2011.He also won his biggest ever cheque of €24,000.

A great finish of 67 moved Michael Mc Geady up into a share of 20th on -9.Mc Geady had scores of 71,71,70,67 to take home €1,624.

Colm Moriarty was -10 after scores of 69,67,70 but fell back to a share of 24th with a final round of 74.His -8 total earned him €1,365.

The 36 hole cut came at -2 and it was missed by 4 shots by Johnny Caldwell after scores of 72/74.
