MCGRANE SHOWS HIS CLASS IN DERRY PRO AM.

European Tour player,Damien McGrane,missed the qualifing for the Open Championship,so he took up an invite to play in the 36 hole McCambridge-Duffy PGA Pro Am around the City of Derry course and came away the easy winner with scores of 67,67,64 for a 15 under par total and a 4 shot win from Ex Tour player David Higgins.

McGrane is presently 57th on the "Race to Dubai" table on the European tour with earnings of €318,038 this year.He can add the £2,000 he won in Derry after his closing 7 birdie round of 64.This topped Higgins who was leading by 2 shots overnight.Higgins extended his lead at the top of the "Race to Mount Juliet" table with a cheque for £1,600 for 2nd place.

Another European player,Simon Thornton was 3rd and won £1,300 with scores of 67,72,66 to finish -8.Local Challenge Tour player Michael Mc Geady was 4th with rounds of 69,67,70, -7 to win £1,200 and Europro player Barrie Trainor was 5th on -6 after rounds of 68,69,70 which won him £1,000.

Killymoon Professional Gary Chambers won a trip abroad,with his winning team in the Quinn Insurance Pro Am last month.He has now won yet another trip to Spain with his team of Tony Mc Cann,Barney Mc Daid and Martin Doherty,all City of Derry members who made great use of their local knowledge to return a massive 278 points for the three rounds.
