CALDWELL FADES AWAY IN SWEDEN AFTER GREAT START.

Johnny Caldwell led after the first round of The Princess Tournament in Sweden on the Challenge Tour with a fantastic 7 under par round of 64,but it was all downhill after that.He tumbled down the field following rounds of 75,72 and 76 to finish in 59th place on 3 over par and won €458.

In this tournament,Denmark’s Thorbjorn Olesen captured his maiden European Challenge Tour title and the €24,000 first prize.A one under par 70 in the final round left him two shots clear of Austrian Bernd Wiesberger and Swede Peter Gustafsson.

Olesen, 20, playing his first full season on the Challenge Tour, took a three shot lead into the final day and held off the challenge of his rivals with three birdies and two bogeys to add to rounds of 69, 66 and 65 at BĂ„stad Golf Club in southern Sweden. He is now in 4th place in the order of merit table and in a good position to win one of the 20 cards available for the main European Tour next year.

Lurgan's Gareth Shaw closed off with a superb round of 67 to finish in 28th place on 3 under par and collect €1,230,while Michael Mc Geady was 54th on one over par 285 for a pay day of €578.
