SWEDE RICHARD S JOHNSTON WINS ON HOME SOIL.

33 year old Swede,Richard S Johnson sank a 30 foot birdie putt on the final green at Bro Hof Slott Golf Club in Stockholm to become only the second home winner of the Nordea Scandinavian Masters in the last 12 years.

Johnston played a safe shot into the 18th and looked like he was playing for a par and a play off with Argentina's Rafa Echenique.To the delight of the home supporters and his family,a long sweeping 30 foot putt finished in the hole for a one shot win.

Johnston has not won for 8 years.Since February he has not had a top 30 finish on the PGA Tour in the US where he is now based.This win might bring him back to Europe as he has a two year exemption and a cheque for €266,660.

Rafa Echenique was 2nd on -10 and will have to wait another while for that first win.Edoardo Molinari was 3rd on -9 and Open Champion Louis Oosthuizen was joint 4th alongside Brett Rumford and Mark Brown on -8.

Damien Mc Grane got a poor start with a 73,but he rallied well to finish in a share of 8th place after rounds of 71,69,69.He collected a cheque for €35,947.

Michael Hoey was consistant.He scored 70,70,72,73 to win €22,560 for a share of 14th.

Simon Thornton hit 73,67,74 and a poor closing 77 to drop down into 41st place on +3 and win €9,280.

The 36 hole cut came at +1.Gary Murphy and Peter Lawrie both had second rounds of 77 to miss the cut. (Murphy +5,lawrie +7)
