Peter Lawrie in position to defend Spanish title.

Dubliner Peter Lawrie is putting up a strong defence of his Open de Espana title at the PGA Golf Catalunya course in Spain.He fired a second round 66 to go with his opening 68 for a 10 under par total of 134.He sits 3 shots behind Frenchman Thomas Levet who opened with a brilliant 64 and followed up with a 67.
Lawrie opened his second round with 6 birdies in the first eight holes.Over the last 10 he made 2 birdies and 2 bogies to set himself up nicely for the weekend.
Paul McGinley is starting to show good form after some poor putting rounds.He jumped from 45th to joint 6th after a 67 to leave him 7 under par.
Gary Murphy just made the cut on level par,despite a poor 74.
Damien McGrane bogied the last to miss the cut by one with scores of 70,75.
Johnny Caldwell despite a first round 70 missed out by 3 after a dissapointing 77.
Recent winner Michael Hoey return was not what he had planned with scores of 77,76.
