John Kelly wins Carne Pro Am.

The 36 hole Carne Pro Am took place on Saurday 19th and Sunday 20th June on the difficult Connemara Golf Club.The first day was a good test in strong winds sending the scores soaring.The only player to break the par was St Margarets Professional John Kelly.He returned a one under par 70.Local Professional Hugh o Neill was next best on 73 one over par.

On the second day the wind had died down and the scoring got a lot better.John Kelly played steady to return a 73 and his level par score of 144 was good enough to win the first prize by 3 shots from Barrie Trainor(Team Ireland)Trainor took a 77 in the first round.He took advantage of the calmer conditions on the Sunday to return a 2 under par 70 for second place.


Robert Giles(Greenore) brought home the winning team of Frank Healy 12,Edmund Mc Andrews 10 and PJ Mc Hale 18 all Carne members.
