Ireland's Shane Lowry equalled one of Sir Nick Faldo's records with a sizzling eight under par 62 at Sunningdale Old Golf in the first round of The Open Championship qualifying.It was matched in the afternoon by Ryder Cup Captain Colm Montgomery.
Lowry went on to take the top qualifing spot with a second round of 67 and this will be a first Major for Shane since he turned Professional last year after his amazing play off win against Robert Rock in the Irish Open at Baltray.
Gareth Maybin takes another stride forward in only his second year on the main tour.He shot 132 to join Thomas Bjorn in 4th place.Marcel Siem took the 10th and final spot after a 6 man play off on 134.
