WALTON WINS PGA SPRINT IN TIPPERARY.

Past Ryder cup hero Philip Walton won his first Irish PGA event this year when he shot a 3 under par round of 69 to win the Skycaddie PGA Sprint at Tipperary golf club.

It didn't look good for Walton,as he was one over par after nine holes.He came to life on the back nine with birdies at the par 4 10th,the short 12th,the long 13th and the par 4 15th.

While Walton came through the pack,Michael Mc Dermott took a triple bogey at the 17th to blow his chances,finishing on one under par 70 and David Ryan who was 3 under, took a double bogey at the 16th and a bogey at the 17th to finish on level par 72.

The win for Walton lifted him up into 10th place on the Lexus Race to Mount Juliet behind the leader David Higgins.
