Lowry one ahead of Tiger in Shanghai.

American Nick Watney has set the pace in the HSBC CHAMPIONS EVENT in SHANGHAI when he had a 7 birdie,1 eagle and 1 bogey round of 8 under par 64.He opened up a 2 shot gap from Martin Kaymer,Ryan Moore and Irelands Shane Lowry.

Lowry has improved greatly from he turned Professional after winning the Irish Open as an amateur back in May.He is 164th in the Race to Dubai with 105,811 Euros earned in the 5 months he has been a Pro.He can quite easily compete with the best players and is not afraid to go low.
He can look back with pride as he finished one shot clear of Tiger who had a 67.

It wasn't a great day for Rory McIlroy who was one over par 73.He took a double bogey at the 1st,his 10th and couldn't recover.Padraig Harrington was 2 under after 9 holes. He had a bad run of 4 bogies on the front nine to finish well back in 57th place on 74 +2.
