(2)ZANE SCOTLAND WINS ABC SOLUTIONS CHAMPIONSHIP.

ZANE Scotland clinched a victory on the PGA EuroPro Tour after a last-hole double bogey 7 from leader James Busby handed him the title.

Scotland had already finished and Busby held a one-shot lead going into the par-five 18th but fired a double bogey seven as Scotland won by one shot.

It completed a remarkable three days at the ABC Solutions UK Championship at De Vere Wychwood Park in Crewe as the lead repeatedly changed hands before Scotland clinched the £10,000 first prize.

This was Scotland's first Europro event since 2007 as he plays mostly on the Challenge Tour and qualified for the Open Championship at St.Andrews.Going into the back nine Zane was only one under par and well behind the leaders. He showed his ability with a 4 under back nine for a best of the day 68 to set the clubhouse target of 5 under par.

Busby was in pole position when he stood on the par 5,18th with a one shot advantage. It turned into a nightmare for him as first he drove into the water on the right. After a penalty drop he proceded to hook his 3rd shot into an unplayable lie.He then made the green with his 5th shot and took two putts for a 7 to lose the title by one shot to Scotland.

It was an expensive hole for Busby as he had to settle for the runner up prize of £5,000.With a win Busby would have moved into 2nd on the order of merit and a guaranteed Challenge Tour card for next year but as things sit he is in 7th place and one place away from an automatic promotion next year.

14 Irish made the journey to Crewe for the Championship but only 5 made the 36 hole cut mark of 2 over par.

Noel Fox started on the 10th in the first round and was packing his bags after it took him 42 shots(+6)to cover the back nine.He recovered with a front nine of 32(-4)for a round of 74.A second round of level par 72 got him into the final round on the cut mark of +2.His 3rd round of 15 pars and 3 birdies for a 69,lifted him from 47th into a share of 15th on -1,215 and won him £455.

Brian McElhinney got himself into contention with opening rounds of 72 and 69 to sit on 3 under par.He was only one shot behind the winning score with 5 holes to go,but made 3 bogies to drop down to 15th alongside Noel Fox after a closing 74.

Recent winner of the Ulster PGA Championship,Barrie Trainor finished in 22nd place with rounds of 71,72 and 74 for a +1 total of 217 and won £365.Trainor got a bad start to his final round with 3 bogies in the first 4 holes.

Michael Mc Geady and Brendan Mc Carroll tied in 47th place on +6 222 for a prize of £210.Mc Geady closed with a 78 while Mc Carroll had a 76.
