DUNMURRY WIN ULSTER BARTON SHIELD.

Dunmurry were crowned Ulster Champions of the Barton Shield for the first time at Moyola Park with a tie hole victory over Warrenpoint.In the morning semi-finals Stephen Crowe & Glenn Mc Auley had a 3 hole victory while Darren Crowe & Graham Dickson finished all square against Malone to set up a final against Warrenpoint who had a comfortable 9 hole win over Rathmore.

In the final Darren Crowe & Graham Dickson had a 2 hole win over Warrenpoint's Colm Campbell Jun & Ryan Gribben.It didn't look to be enough as Stephen Crowe & Glenn Dickson were 4 down with 2 holes to go against the experienced Warrenpoint pair of Jim Carvill & Stephen Coulter.A par was good enough to win the 17th to keep the dream alive.Stephen Crowe produced the shot of the day when he wedged to 2 feet at the par 5,18th.Glenn holed the birdie putt which sent the game into extra time.

After halving the first tie hole in par,Dunmurry sealed the game and the Ulster title with a winning par after the Warrenpoint pair missed from 5 feet.

Team Captain Tony Cassidy was delighted that Dunmurry won the Ulster title at last,after coming so close over the last 10 years.He thanked his team of Darren,Stephen,Graham,Glenn, and Noel Murray and Chris Bradley who played at different stages during the Ulster Championship,for all the hard work that brought the Ulster title to Dunmurry for the first time.

Dunmurry will now go to Castlebar Golf Club on the 15th to the 18th September where they will represent Ulster in the All Ireland final's.
