(23)LURGAN WIN ULSTER SENIOR CUP FOR THE FIRST TIME.

Lurgan Golf Club were crowned Ulster Champions of the Senior Cup at Belvior Park for the first time when they beat Ardglass in a tense final by a margin of 3 - 2.

In the semi-final against Strabane,Lurgan were 2 games each with win's from Gary Clarke and Steven Kelly.David Sutton was the hero for Lurgan with a tie hole victory that set up a final game against Ardglass who beat Moyola park by 3.5-1.5

In the final,Paul Mc Cabrey and James Horan both lost to give Ardglass the perfect start.David Sutton and Steven Kelly levelled matters for Lurgan with two fine wins.This time it was the turn of Gary Clarke to turn hero and he didn't disappoint.He produced a final hole win to give Lurgan their first Ulster Senior Cup pennant.

Team Captain Ian Mc Murray was all smiles as he recieved the Ulster pennant.He was full of praise for his fantastic squad of players who had put so much effort into bringing the Ulster title back to Lurgan for the first time.

Lurgan will now represent Ulster in the All Ireland finals at Castlebar Golf Club from the 15th to the 18th September.
