Paul oHanlon leads the Irish challenge as he did in the last event in Stoke by Nayland with an opening -2 68.
Brendan McCarroll is the only other Irish to break par.He had a -1 round of 69.
Brian McElhinney,Runner up to Padraig Harrington in the Irish PGA Championship last week didn't get of to a great start with a +7,77.Richard Kilpatrick 3rd in the same championship is better placed on +2,72.Barrie Trainor was level par after 16 holes.He took a triple bogey 7 at the 8th,his 17th for a +3,73.
