American,Fred Funk covered the back nine in Sunningdale in 5 under par,30 to take the lead in the first round of the Seniors Open Championship with a -6 round of 64.
Des Smyth birdied the last for a share of second on -4,66 with Jay Hass,Loren Roberts and S.African Chris Williams.
Tom Watson put last weeks OPEN behind him with a share of 6th on -3,67,with Greg Normam,Sam Torrance,Tom Kite and Jerry Bruner.
Denis oSullivan put up a great performance with a share of 11th on -2,68.
Adopted Irish man Mark McNulty was the only other one to break par on -1 69 for a share of 11th spot.
