Watson & Marino lead OPEN,Tiger is out !

World No1 Tiger Woods is back in Florida wondering where did it all go wrong.Having shot a 71 in calm conditions in the first round at Turnberry,it was always going to be difficult to make the +4 cut with the wind blowing, especially on the front 9.
Woods played the first 7 holes in 1 under par and was looking comfortable, when "BANG",it all went wrong.Bogey, bogey and a lost ball double bogey at the 10th left him on +4.With 3 further dropped shots he went out to +7.A late charge of birdie, birdie, par was one shot too many for Woods as he missed only his second cut in 49 majors.
59 year old Tom Watson is still living the dream as he holed 30 foot putts on the 16th and 18th greens to share the lead with unknown Steve Marino who is on his first trip to Britain.Another past champion Mark Calcavecchia is only one shot behind.
5 of the 7 Irish golfers are employed for the weekend.Padraig Harrington is still in with a chance to win 3 titles in a row, although he is 8 shots behind the leaders.
Graeme McDowell is the closest to the leaders on +1.
138th OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP.
