Great performance by McIlroy in US Open.

20 year old superstar Rory McIlroy returned a 2 over par 72 in the first round of the US Open, only his 3rd major event.
Starting on the 10th he went to +2 after losing shots at the 10th and 12th.A birdie at the 13th got him to the turn in one over par.A double at the first and a bogey at the 2nd left him +4. McIlroy showed why he is rated so highly by making birdies at the 4th,5th and 6th.A bogey at the 7th gave him a 72 and leaves him in good position for round 2.

The early leader in the clubhouse is none other than David Duval.Duval was No 2 to Tiger and his biggest threat 10 years ago.He has only played in a handful of events since then and without any success.
In todays round he turned the clock back to record 5 birdies and 2 bogies for a -3 round of 67.
