McDowell fast start in US Open.

Graeme Mc Dowell has made a great start in his 4th US Open at Bathpage Black in Long Island.In the rain delayed first round Mc Dowell got off to a bad start by dropping shots at the 10th & 11th holes.Brilliant birdie two's at the 14th & 17th got him to level par.Further birdies at the 2nd & 4th and his only mistake, a bogey at the difficult 6th left him the early clubhouse leader on 69,along with Drew Weaver.
Mc Dowells best finish in 3 previous US Opens was joint 30th at oakmount in 2007.

Padraig Harrington rescued something from his round with a world class birdie from a fairway bunker on the last hole.He was +7 after 12 holes. Birdies at the 13th & 14th were spoilt by a double bogey at the 15th to go back to +7.The birdie at the last will give him some chance of a comeback tomorrow to make the half way cut.

Playing in the same group as Harrington,Tiger Woods got back to level par with birdies at the 11th & 12th,but faded with some poor golf to finish on +4,74.Woods a winner at Pebble Beach 2000,Bethpage 2002 and Torrey Pines in 2008 will still be favorite for the title.
