Irish amateur golf on a roll.........

This time last year the Irish Professionals were winning a title nearly on a weekly basis. This year with the exception of Rory McIlroy winning in Dubia there is little to cheer about.
It is the year of the amateur....3 weeks ago Irelands top amateur Shane Lowry took on and beat all the Professionals in the Irish Open.As we all know Shane threw up the chance of playing Walker Cup and turned Professional.
The same week,Niall Kearney put himself in line for the Walker Cup when he won the Brabazon Trophy at Lytham.
This week Rathmore's Alan Dunbar who only got into the St Andrews Links Trophy as a late reserve won after finishing on 2 under par for 4 rounds. He followed up a 71 on the new course at St Andrews with rounds of 73,71,70 on the Old Course.
