Italion,Diane Luna wins AIB event in Dublin.

There was a fog delay in the AIB Ladies Irish Open at Portmarnock in Dublin. Once play got underway there was only going to be one winner when Italian Diana Luna had a great tournament hitting rounds of 68,69,68 -11.She won by 4 clear shots from favorite Sophie Gustafson(Sweden),Gwladys Nocera(France)and Florontyna Parker(England).Luna picked up 75,000 Euros.
It was a good pay day for the top Irish performer,Martina Gillen from Beaverstown finished in joint 26th and won 5,175 Euros.
Carlows Tara Delaney was 37th on +5 and won 3,520 Euros.Rebecca Coakley 52nd+5,Hazel Cavanagh 59th+8 and Kilkeel amateur Danielle Mc Veigh was 61st on +9.Danielle had a hole in one at the 3rd hole in round two,qualified on level par but had a poor 81 in the final round.
Despite missing the cut,the 14 year old twin Maguires made a lot of new admirers.They will be competing for major Pro honours in the not too distant future.Leona finished +8 and beat her playing partner Laura Davis for the second day in a row,while Lisa was 2 shots worse on +10 for 36 holes.
